Amanda Gagliano

Amanda Gagliano

My name is Amanda, and I am an IMM Senior with minors in Japanese and Fine Art. I’m a 2D and 3D animator with a highly versatile skillset, and one day I’m going to take over Pixar (so move over, John Lasseter). I was the president of TCNJ’s chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH and was presented with the opportunity to volunteer at the international SIGGRAPH conference in Los Angeles in 2015. Being an integral member of SIGGRAPH has afforded me the opportunity to network with professionals within the industry and has infinitely motivated me to become the best at all things animation. I frequently post on my personal art Instagram, and I’ve created my own hashtag, “#ImComingForYaPixar.” When I’m not plotting to rule the creative world, you can find me playing video games, watching obscene amounts of Netflix, or drowning my face in makeup.

Thesis Project: Friendly Fire

Friendly Fire is a 2D animation test of what will become a fully animated short story. Rather than being a full-fledged animation with color and sound, I am focusing purely on refining my character animation skills and executing clear and distinct body and facial movement. Due to technical difficulties with other animation programs, I utilized Photoshop to complete my thesis; the principle of animation and onion-skin aspects still applied as if I was using OpenToonz or animating with old-fashioned pencil and paper, so this method still worked perfectly and yielded the same results. This project allows for me to flex my skills in all areas of production and showcases how versatile my skills are as an animator.
