A creative mind with an aptitude for traveling and adventure. In May, I will be receiving a dual degree in computer science and interactive multimedia. While I am always adding to my list of interests, I love user experience design and web development, and have found the crossover between my degrees to be extremely valuable in the industry workforce. After graduation, I will be traveling to the west coast for a month to go surfing in California, white water rafting through the Grand Canyon, and rock climbing in the Rocky Mountains. On my return, I will start my career in “the real world” at Avanade, Inc. as a user experience designer in New York City.
Thesis Project: Endangered Planet
Endangered Planet is a video game that can be used as a tool to introduce the environmental dangers that our planet is facing. These dangers include pollution, global warming, deforestation, etc.. The game is built in GameMaker: Studio and features one main level and one mini-game for the showcase. The main level represents the forest habitat and the mini-game objectives are related to the real-world objectives that we need to focus on fixing on our planet (pollution on out beaches). My intention for building this game was to encourage and inspire users on going out from behind the screen and positively making a difference in the environment around them.
