Internships in Data Visualization

Data to Discovery (JPL/Caltech/Art Center Data Visualization Group) is seeking art and design student interns for next summer. The positions are ideal for graduate students or exceptional and mature undergraduates who like to work collaboratively and are interested in data, science and media studies.

Data to Discovery is an intensive 10-week summer R+D internship program focused on the relationships between data visualization and knowledge production. The program brings faculty and researchers from Caltech, JPL and Art Center together with student interns from computing, design, and media art. Working with science and engineering labs at Caltech and JPL, we co-design new interactive systems for scientific data visualization. For the first time in summer 2020, we are launching a parallel art/design track focused on speculative, critical art/design and media studies/STS approaches to understanding data. Working alongside the data visualization team, a media art intern will explore questions about how knowledge is constructed from data, theory, and subjective human experience. For more information about the program and how to apply, see https://datavis.caltech.edu/ or download this flyer: datavis call for interns 2020
