The William Trent House Museum in Trenton seeks TCNJ students interested in African American history to work as research assistants for the 2021-2022 academic year. Students selected will receive a $250 stipend, and have the option of enrolling for internship credit.
Students will conduct and transcribe interviews, as well as draft narrative life histories.
The goal of the project is to create an archive of interviews and contextual information on the experiences of African American individuals and families who came to Trenton from the South during the historic period of the Great Migration in American history. We hope that this material will be of value to professional and student historians. We also hope that making this information public through exhibits and programs will give all Trentonians a deeper appreciation of our community’s past and its role in the American story.
