TCNJ’s School of the Arts and Communication is excited to offer a range of summer camps that allow high school students to explore their creative interests and develop twenty-first-century skills. The camps run in two sessions — July 6-11 and 13-18 — with options for commuters as well as on-campus housing and programming designed for campers to explore discover the TCNJ campus community while they explore their interests.
This summer’s camps build on last year’s inaugural offerings — an experience that was rewarding for campers and leaders alike.
“It was a really great bonding experience, especially for those who stayed overnight,” said DCT Professor Josh Fishburn about last year’s camps. “The lunches were awesome because we got to connect with students, and they saw us as regular people.”

Registration is now open for the following camps:
2D Animation: Emmy Award-winning professor Sorraya Brashear-Evans guides campers as they explore animation fundamentals and practice short filmmaking techniques to bring their 2D characters to life. Campers collaborate and learn about expressive storytelling through methods used by industry professionals.
Game Design: Campers of all skill levels learn to design and program small, playable video games. Campers collaborate and develop programming skills using creative coding tools.
Graphic Design: Campers explore techniques for visual communication and develop skills in interdisciplinary media arts, gaining hands-on experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, and developing valuable insights into the graphic design field. Through projects in print and digital media, they learn typography, image-making, design thinking, and historical trends.
Music Technology: Campers explore music composition and audio production by creating songs, making beats, and producing original tracks. Using Logic Pro and Ableton in a Mac lab and a professional recording studio, campers will write, edit, and refine their music for sharing.
Ceramics: Campers of all skill levels explore hand-building, wheel throwing, and learning surface design to create various ceramic pieces. They create unique hands-on projects while working with professional equipment and an experienced instructor.
Musical Theatre Workshop: A one-week intensive program for students entering grades 10-12. Campers get daily training in voice, acting, and dance, along with college audition coaching and rehearsals for a final showcase. Taught by TCNJ faculty and industry professionals, this program offers an immersive college experience. This camp requires an audition, please see this page for more information.
Future Music Educators Institute: An opportunity for students interested in music education or conducting to learn through master classes with TCNJ faculty and guest artists. Daily sessions include the Art of Teaching Music, Art of Conducting, Creativity and Play in Music Education, and Teaching Music Theory.
