The McCann Health NJ Summer Internship Program is designed to provide students in their junior or senior year of college with an opportunity to learn about various disciplines within the healthcare advertising industry. Based in Parsippany, New Jersey, our 8-week, paid internship program runs from approximately Wednesday, June 5 to Friday, August 2, 2019. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Program Criteria:
- Must be entering your junior or senior year in the Fall of 2019 OR be a recent undergrad graduate (within 1 year of graduation date)
- Major should be relevant/applicable to advertising/marketing industry
- Prior work or internship experience is preferred
- Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher
- Portfolio or sample work is required for Graphic Design and Copywriting internship applicants
- Must be able to independently secure housing for the duration of the internship. Housing and/or housing subsidy is not provided by McCann Health.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Internships are available in the following disciplines:
Account Services:
From the time a client initiates a request from the ad agency up until the advertising campaign is live, Account Services facilitates the exchange of information between the agency and the client. They manage the day-to-day administration of the client account, developing and maintaining effective working relationships with the client and the internal agency teams.
Art:
Art Interns typically have proficiency across Adobe Creative Suite programs. A creative mindset with an ability to come up with a number solutions on how to visually represent information is key. Strong communication skills including: active listening, accurate verbal expression of ideas and concepts, and creating compelling stories through presentations will help ideas go from concept to completion.
Copywriting:
Copywriters partner with Art Directors in the creation and development of creative ideas, with a specific focus on writing promotional content for everything from print ads and direct marketing brochures, to mobile applications and websites. Our copywriters are also responsible for analyzing market research & scientific data to create persuasive, engaging copy that addresses the client needs.
Engagement:
Engagement infuses humanity, to deliver meaningful brand experiences. Effective digital promotion requires more than a collection of tactics and platforms, but the holistic integration of users, context, content, technology, and implementation. This includes patient experience, user experience and technological strategy.
Graphic Design:
Graphic Designers utilize their creativity and knowledge of computer graphics programs and softwares, e.g. Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc., to execute visual concepts for advertising campaigns. Graphic Designers work closely with Art Directors and Copywriters to develop promotional content for both print and interactive campaigns, including infographics, chart designs and logos.
Scientific Strategy:
Scientific Strategists utilize their in-depth therapeutic category knowledge to distill complex scientific data down to strategic insights and overall message development for our clients. They are scientific experts involved in engagement planning, data analysis, and content development.
Strategic Planning:
Strategic Planners conduct focus groups and analyze market research in order to develop key strategic insights which inform the development of advertising campaigns. They help to ensure the creative work follows the client brief, keeping the campaign on strategy. Strategic Planners work closely with the client to help them understand their business objectives and formulate their brand communications strategy.
